Isle of Man Post will issue a set of 6 stamps in honour of a former Liverpool telegram boy who became the Island’s most influential cartoonist.

Between 1933 and 1962 newspaper cartoons by Harold ‘Dusty’ Miller (1898-1964) captured political and social issues in a way that text alone could not. Some cartoons would remain topical for generations. Occasionally he bordered on morale-raising or conscience pricking propaganda but mostly visualised public sentiment. Miller won a scholarship to Liverpool School of Art when 13. Financially unable to take advantage of it, he became a telegram message boy, at 14, for Liverpool Post Office.

Wonderful Butterflies issue will be released by Isle of Man Post

The Isle of Man Post Office is pleased to present this Butterfly Collection of eight stamps featuring species that have been selected not only for their beauty but also to highlight some uniquely Manx aspects of their lives.

 The dazzling stamp images are the work of renowned wildlife illustrator Richard Lewington while the supporting text is provided by Jeff and Gail Jeffcoate of the Manx Wildlife Trust.

Nicest stamp from Small European Postal Administrations elected

Lucky winner of EUR 6,000 drawn

Since 1996 a number of small European Postal Administrations have cooperated in a group called SEPAC. Today this group includes Aland, Faroe Islands, Gibraltar, Greenland, Guernsey, Iceland, Isle of Man, Jersey, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, San Marino and Vatican City. All the members of the group have small home markets and face the same challenges, making it natural to cooperate.

Twice, in 2007 and 2009, the SEPAC members have issued postage stamps according to a common theme: Sceneries.

On 6th May 2010 SEPAC launched a voting contest among all 2007 and 2009 SEPAC stamps. Voters from all over the world were invited to cast one vote each for the most beautiful SEPAC stamp. Our fascinating issue charts the milestones of human life through the use of public records held in Manx National Heritage’s brand new ‘i Museum,’ which is dedicated to Manx family history and due to open this year. From birth to death, there are certificates that encapsulate key events of life. A range of lives and life experiences are explored in this collection. 

Isle of Man Stamps & Coins has worked with the Isle of Man Family History Society and Manx National Heritage to research prime themes associated with tracing Manx family history. In addition, we have featured the most common surnames found on the Isle of Man census of 1891. Our issue text, on our presentation pack and first day cover, details these aspects and the valuable work of these institutions is also discussed.

Royal Wedding will boost stamps sales

BREAKING NEWS – Royal Engagement Miniature Sheet

Isle of Man Post Office is delighted to celebrate the announcement that Prince William is to marry long-term girlfriend Miss Catherine Middleton next year.

To mark this prestigious occasion in Royal history, Isle of Man Post Office is issuing a miniature sheet featuring two stamps depicting Prince William and imagery of Catherine and William together. In addition to this, a presentation pack and first day cover will also be issued on November 26.
