This year, three chapels of the mountain community of Triesenberg are depicted on the traditional stamps in the Christmas period. As is often the case, the Philately is using this issue to again offer artists in Liechtenstein a platform for showing their work. For instance, oil paintings by Erich Beck, who paints pictures mainly of landscapes and animals from his homeland in his part-time artistic endeavours, serve as a basis for the special issue stamps. The New York, Geneva and Vienna annual collection folders of single mint stamps and souvenir sheets issued in 2014 will be released on 23 October 2014. The albums are printed in full colour and provide information about each issue. The mint stamps and souvenir sheets are not affixed inside the albums, as approval cards are provided for this purpose. The Geneva and Vienna annual collection folders will also be available with the affixed and respectively cancelled stamps. (read more)

Dr. Benjamin Zeev (Wolfgang Johannes) von Weisl (1896, Vienna – 1974, Gadera) was a Viennese physician and a decorated WWI artillery corps officer, an international author and journalist and a renowned orientalist, as well as a Zionist leader, one of the founders of the Revisionist movement and a pioneer in the struggle for Eretz Israel. The Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition (Weddell Sea party 1914–16) is considered by some the last major expedition of the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration. By 1914 both Poles had been reached so Shackleton set his sights on being the first to traverse Antarctica.
