www.worldstampnews.com is a new, online philatelic news/information site created to promote philately and inform collectors worldwide. We love stamps and everything to do with these wonderful miniature works of art and that’s why we’ve created this site! We’re here to promote our passion and love of stamps!

As you know stamp collecting is fun and very personal: you collect the kind of stamps you want and whichever way you want to collect them. There’s no right way or wrong way to build a collection be it of used or mint stamps. Stamps are there in our albums, protected, cared for, they are not intangible, virtual items inside computers!

Philatelists of the world are rising (millions of us) once again and there is no need to feel embarrassed for being a stamp collector in the 21st century.

King George V of the United Kingdom famously promoted the hobby for the first time (probably since he appeared in so many of them! I would to wouldn’t you?!) and since then many of us including today’s rich and famous collect stamps too.

The Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood is a prominent stamp collector as well as French president Nicolas Sarkozy, a very keen philatelist that describes it as “an opening to the world, to history, to great events…to a world of artists, engravers and page designers”.

Other famous collectors include the late John Lennon and Freddie Mercury both of whom have their collections displayed in museums worldwide. Tennis star Maria Sharapova, footballer Luis Figo and most famously of all Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II are also collectors.
