Nordia 2014 Stamp Exhibition Issued by Norway

NORDIA 2014, the Nordic stamp exhibition, will be held at Norway Trade Fairs in Lillestrøm on 21–23 November. Norway Post is issuing a miniature sheet to celebrate the event.

The Nordia stamp exhibition rotates among the Nordic countries, and Norway last hosted the exhibition in Stavanger in 2008. Norway Post issued a miniature sheet for the exhibition, with three stamps commemorating that Stavanger also was the European Capital of Culture that year. The motifs of this year’s miniature sheet are related to the Norwegian Constitution Bicentenary and will be a philatelic treat for many. (read more)

New Stamp Edition by USPS – Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer!

On the evening of December 6, 1964, families sat down to watch a new TV show for the first time: an animated special called Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. It featured the voice of Burl Ives as Sam, a singing snowman, who narrates the tale of a misfit reindeer who finds his own special way to shine. The hour-long show went on to become not only the longest-running and highest-rated Christmas special in TV history, but also a beloved holiday tradition. (read more)

Christmas 2014- What Christmas Means Issued by Alderney Post!

The wonderful images featured on Guernsey Post’s 2014 Alderney Christmas stamp issues have all been created by local schoolchildren.

Working closely with the St. Anne’s School, the Philatelic team at Guernsey Post presented a special competition idea, which meant the youngsters had to get creative and begin thinking about the festive season in early springtime! (read more)

Norway Post – Christmas Stamps 2014!

While Christmas cards have brightened up the darkness of December for many Norwegians for more than 130 years, Christmas stamps are a much more recent phenomenon. Three stamps with the theme of Norwegian fairy tales were issued in 1971. These were the first stamps in Norway that were issued with Christmas cards in mind. They therefore are normally considered – in practice as well – to be our first Christmas stamps, even if the motifs of the stamps themselves do not necessarily lead to thoughts of Christmas. Christmas 2014 – Mountain Chapels Issued by Liechtenstein Post!

This year, three chapels of the mountain community of Triesenberg are depicted on the traditional stamps in the Christmas period. As is often the case, the Philately is using this issue to again offer artists in Liechtenstein a platform for showing their work. 25th Government Jubilee Issued by Liechtenstein Post!

On 13 November 1989, after the death of his father Prince Franz Joseph II, Prince Hans-Adam II assumed the office of Liechtenstein’s head of state and the reign over the Princely House of Liechtenstein. On the 25th Jubilee of His Serene Highness the Philately is publishing the special issue stamp entitled “Prince Hans-Adam II” (value: CHF 2.00) designed by Hans Peter Gassner. Today’s reigning prince was born as the eldest son of Prince Franz Joseph II and Princess Gina on 14 February 1945 into one of the oldest noble families.
