Monaco Issued a Stamp Edition for the Baby and Nepal Association!

On 12th July 2013, H.S.H. Princess Stéphanie of Monaco founded the Baby & Nepal Association in order to support two elephants who escaped being put down thanks to Her fervent commitment. H.S.H. Princess Stephanie had a 3,500 m2 park built on the Fonbonne estate and continues to care passionately for these forty-year-old pachyderms.

Peel Cars 50th Birthday Celebration- (Limited Edition Cover) Issued by Isle of Man!

To mark 50 years of the Peel P50 and Trident, Isle of Man Post Office is pleased to present a set of six stamps featuring the highly distinctive micro cars produced by Peel Engineering Company on the Isle of Man. Back in 1964 Peel Engineering were in full production of their unique P50 and later that year the first 12 Tridents were completed prior to the public launch at the Earl’s Court Motorcycle Show in November that year. Hungary Post is Marking the Quincentenary of the Tripartitum by Issuing a Commemorative Miniature Sheet Containing Four Stamps!

The compilation of the three-part book of the Kingdom of Hungary’s customary law was commenced in 1504 by István Werbőczy, who was later elevated from lord chief justice to palatine, and was completed in 1514. The stamps show the cover page of the translation of the Tripartitum, published in Debrecen in 1565. (read more)

Aquatic Flowers Issued by Philippines Post!

Amazon lily Victoria amazonica – Native to the Amazon River basic, Giant Water Lily is the largest size member of the Water lily family. The plant has very large leaves, up to 2-3 m in diameter, that float on the water’s surface on a submerged stalk, 7–8 m in length. The edges turn up to form a rim. Underside of leaf is coppery red. The flowers are white the first night they are open and become pink the second night, and purple subsequently. They are up to 9-12 inches in diameter, and are pollinated by beetles. (read more)

2014 – International Year of Crystallography Issued by the Portuguese Post!

By official decision of the UN, the year 2014 was declared the International Year of Crystallography. This ephemeris is jointly organized by the International Union of Crystallography (IUCr) and UNESCO and aims to create a link between two other initiatives of this sort: the International Year of Chemistry, held in 2011, and the International Year of Light, which will be celebrated in 2015. As such, these three worldwide celebrations fall into the strategic guidelines of the International Program of Fundamental Sciences of UNESCO, in collaboration with other scientific programs of the Organization, (read more)

Pitcairn Islands New Issue – Botanica!

The flora of the Pitcairn Islands consists of 81 species, of which 10 are endemic. IUCN Red List threat categories show that over 60% of the indigenous flora is threatened within the Island, and over 20% is threatened globally. The main threats affecting the flora and vegetation are posed by habitat clearance, spread of invasive species such as the Rose Apple Syzygium jumbos, small population sizes or restricted distribution, erosion, and lack of fruit-eating birds. Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the First Air Mail, Australia Post has Issued a Stamp Edition!

An Australian postage milestone was made in July 1914. French aviator Maurice Guillaux took off from Melbourne Agricultural Grounds on 16 July bound for Sydney, with a cargo of souvenir postcards, official letters and a small number of parcels. Guillaux’s load was light, as his Bleriot XI monoplane was only powered by a Gnôme rotary engine of around 50 horse power. The aviator was challenged by inclement weather as he winged his way north, (read more)
