65th Founding Anniversary of Kapatagan, Lanao Del Norte – New Stamp Issue by Philippines Post!

Kapatagan was formerly a part of Kolambugan, it existed as municipal district from 1939 to 1948. Kapatagan later became a larger municipality July 5, 1949 by Virtue of Executive Order No. 273. The towns name was derived from the Visayan word patag meaning “plain” or valley. Kapatagan is a municipality in the province Lanao Del Norte in Region X  Northern Mindanao which belongs to the Mindanao group of islands. The municipality Kapatagan is seated about 17 kms. (read more)

Amazon lily Victoria amazonica – Native to the Amazon River basic, Giant Water Lily is the largest size member of the Water lily family. The plant has very large leaves, up to 2-3 m in diameter, that float on the water’s surface on a submerged stalk, 7–8 m in length. The edges turn up to form a rim. Underside of leaf is coppery red. The flowers are white the first night they are open and become pink the second night, and purple subsequently. They are up to 9-12 inches in diameter, and are pollinated by beetles. (read more)

60th Anniversary of Philippines – Germany Diplomatic Relations!

In 1954, an agreement was signed which led to a dynamic cooperation between the two countries of Philippines and Germany.

Germany has an embassy in Manila and the Philippines has an embassy in Berlin. The German- Filipino relations goes back to the the 19th century when our national hero Jose Rizal lived in Germany and finished writing his famous novel Noli Me Tangere. It was published with the assistance of professor Ferdinand Blumentritt. (read more)

Teresita “Mama Sita” was born in Manila on May 11, 1917. She was the eldest daughter of the founder of Aristocrat Restaurant. Mama sita grew up in a social milieu of Divisoria- Navotas and larger culture along Manila Bay. Being the eldest among 12 Siblings, expanded with orphaned cousins, Mama Sita took the chores of marketing and cooking with her mother. (read more)
