The Red Arrows, officially known as the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, is the aerobatics display team of the Royal Air Force based at RAF Scampton. The team was formed in late 1964 as an all-RAF team, replacing a number of unofficial teams that had been sponsored by RAF commands. (read more)

Augustus Earle was born on 1 June 1793 in London, son of James Earle, an American artist and his wife Caroline. Augustus was the nephew of Ralph Earle, the well-known American portrait painter. His father, who had studied at the Royal Academy, returned to America in 1794, but died of yellow fever at Charleston in August 1796. (read more)

Labor PostmasterGeneral, Charles Frazer developed the Kangaroo and Map design, but a few months later, his successor, the Liberal’s Agar Wynne, made plans to scrap it in favour of stamps featuring the monarch, King George V. It was on December 18th, 1921, that the National Football Team held its first official match. It was against Spain and took place in Madrid. We lost 3-1, but the result was considered by the Portuguese media as being “very honourable”. The new Club House for the Yacht Club of Monaco will be inaugurated on 20 June. The building was designed by famous architect Lord Norman Foster’s firm. Conceived to be both aesthetically pleasing and at the cutting edge of technology, it was constructed to Haute Qualité Environnementale (HQE®, High Environmental Quality) standards. The building is a superb showcase for the Monaco of the third millennium, and consolidates the Principality’s position as the yachting capital of the world.

Alf Prøysen would have celebrated his 100th birthday this year 23 July, and Norway Post is commemorating this day with two stamps. Unfortunately this popular artist was taken from his huge audience in 1970 at the age of only 56. (read more)

In connection with Prince Henrik of Denmark’s 80th birthday on 11 June, Post Denmark, Post Greenland and Posta Faroe Islands published a joint stamp issue.
His Royal Highness, the Prince Consort, Henrik, Prince of Denmark, is the husband of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark.
Prince Henrik was born on 11 June 1934 in Talence, Gironde in France. His birth name is Henri Marie Jean André, Count de Laborde de Monpezat. His parents were the Count André de Laborde de Monpezat and his wife Renée de Monpezat (born Doursennot). (read more)
