Taiwan releases its 3rd issue in its ‘Wild Mushrooms of Taiwan’ Stamp Series!

Chunghwa Post released “Wild Mushrooms of Taiwan” stamp sets in 2010 and 2012 on low- and middle-altitude wild mushrooms. Now it is following up with the third set in the series, which focuses on four high altitude wild mushrooms.

Owls of Taiwan Postage Stamps from Taiwanese Post!!

After releasing “Owls of Taiwan” stamp sets in 2011 and 2012, Chunghwa Post is following up with another set of four stamps in 2013 featuring Otus lettia, Tyto longimembris, Ketupa flavipes and Otus elegans botelensis. Printed in intaglio, the set is scheduled to be released on June 26, 2013. The designs follow.

Taiwan’s tribute to Girl Guides

The year 2010 is the 100th anniversary of the founding of the girl scouting movement, and Chunghwa Post is issuing a set of two stamps in commemoration on the theme: Girls worldwide say, “Together we can change the world”.
1. The NT$5-denominated stamp: The stamp features a design ingeniously implying a combination of two hands and two doves. The two open palms suggest the idea of devotion and sharing, and the dove symbolizes peace. Devotion, sharing and peace are fundamental Girl Scout values. Girl Scouts aim to actively contribute service to the community so as to make the world a better place.

Taiwan Lighthouses

Chunghwa Post first issued a set of stamps on lighthouses in 1989, and now it is following up with another set of four stamps on the topic, featuring the following lighthouses:
The Chilung Tao Lighthouse (NT$5): The lighthouse is located at the highest point on Chilung Tao, off Keelung Harbor. Built in 1980, this octagon-shaped concrete tower, with a black-and-white vertical-striped daymark, uses air batteries for electricity. In 1998, the lighthouse switched to solar power. In 2006, wind power was added as a secondary power source. The lighthouse has a nominal range of 13.8 nautical miles.
The Wenkan Tui Lighthouse (NT$5): Built in 1914, this skeletal steel frame light tower is located on Waisanding Sandbar off Kouhu Township, Yunlin County. In 1974 (read more)
