Malacanan Palace 150 Years Sesquicentennial

The official residence of the President of the Philippines is Malacañan Palace, situated in the old Manila district of San Miguel.
The first recorded owner of the property is Luis Rocha, a Spaniard in the Galleon trade. The Rocha property was built of stone, described as being a relatively modest country house.

50th Anniversary of Caloocan City – Stamp Issue

The City of Caloocan is one of the cities and municipalities that represent the Metro Manila region in the Philippines. Also known as the “Makasaysayang Lungsod” (Historic City). It was the center of activities for the Katipunan, the secret militant society that launched the Philippine Revolution during the Spanish occupation of the Philippines. It was in a house in Caloocan where concealed meetings were held by Andres Bonifacio and his men, and it was within its confines where the “Unang Sigaw” took place.

Philippine Postal coroporation- Stamp issue

The Philippine Postal Corporation or Korporasyong Koreo ng Pilipinas (Philpost) is a government – owned and controlled corporation responsible for providing postal services in the Philippines.
The Philpost building existed since 1926; one of the grandest buildings of its time. It is now viewed as a national historical treasure. The main entrance faces the Liwasang Bonifacio (popularly known as Plaza Lawton) in Manila, Philippines and overlooks the Pasig River. It houses the main mail sorting-distribution operations.

New Year 2012: “Year of the Dragon”- Stamp issue

The Philippine Postal Corporation recently came up with the New Year 2012: “Year Of The Dragon” stamps, which was issued last December 5, 2011. It is classified as a “Special” kind of issue with denominations of P 7.00 and P 30.00 and quantity of 35,000 pieces each. Also to be issued are souvenir sheets with a denomination of P 74.00 and quantity of 5,000 pieces. The design for the Se-tenant Pair shows the Philpost Chinese characters series depicting the Year of the Dragon.

New Philippine Stamps

The Philippine Postal Corp. (PhilPost) launched a set of limited edition Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III stamps yesterday Monday, July 26, to mark the President’s first State of the Nation Address (SONA).
The stamps, which feature 2 photographs by Jay Narvaez Morales, aim to relive Aquino’s historic inauguration as the country’s 15th President on June 30 at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila.
PhilPost will be releasing 350,000 stamps worth P7 each and 100,000 copies valued at P40 apiece. Both stamps, which were designed by Jesus Alfredo Delos Santos, will be available until July 25, 2011, or while supplies last.
Aquino will be direct and specific in his first SONA, and will not be using any gimmick or human props unlike some past chief executives, Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said earlier. (read more)
