Open Sandwiches- Stamp issue

“That sandwiched aren’t food, and love isn’t hate, that’s all I know for now about sandwiches and love”.
So wrote Danish poet Johan Herman Welsh on the occasion of a social gathering in the 10770’s at which only open sandsiches were served. At that time Danes ate two hot meals a day and sandwiches were regarded as something of a last resort. Bread slices with fat or butter and maybe a little salami were certainly not seen as high style.

Nordic II Coastline 2012- Stamp issue

Europa 2012 Visit Denmark- Stamp issue

The theme for this year’s Europa stamp is ”Visit Denmark”. Casper sejersen took the photograph on which the motif is based. the stamp is designed by post Danmark and produced in offset. The stamp depicts Pierrot pedalling away on his “Christiania bike” in the middle of rush hour, with Harlequin sitting in the box at the front.

Astronomy Joint Stamp Issue

Post Denmark and China post are each issuing two stamps on the theme of astronomy. They feature motifs of medieval astronomers’ equipment. Jointly designed by post Danmark and China post, the stamps are engraved by martin mörck and printed in intaglio and offset.

NORDIA 2012 Stamps from Denmark

The NORDIA stamp exhibition, which is hosted in turn by the nordic countries, will be held in the roskilde Convention Centre, 2-4 november 2012. NORDIA 2012 is being organised by Copenhagen philatelist Club, which celebrates its 125th anniversary in 2012, the Danish philatelic Federation and post Danmark. the theme for NORDIA 2012 is bridges. the stamps, which feature motifs of the Queen alexandrine Bridge and the Farø Bridges, are designed by Bertil skov Jørgensen and Jens Lindhe, based on photographs by Lindhe and printed in offset.

UCI Road World Championships Stamp Issue from Denmark

The UCI Road World Championships 2011 are being held in Denmark.
Denmark is hosting the world championships in road cycling for the first time in 55 years. To mark the occasion, a stamp has being issued featuring a rider wearing the famous multi-coloured world champion’s jersey. The stamp was designed by the graphic artist Leo Scherfig.

Money To Charity From The Sale Of Danish Stamps

Self-adhesive Camping stamps issued by Denmark

Self-adhesive stamp with a motif drawn from Denmark’s marvellous camping life.
The stamps in the ‘Camping Life’ series in the values DKK 6.00 and DKK 8.00 are the result of a competition among students at the Danish Design School. Thirty-five students each submitted two stamp designs. A unanimous jury chose Marie Sølyst’s designs as the winners, because they are simultaneously “retro” and modern, and possess a gentle humour that pleases the viewer.
