Self-adhesive stamp with a motif drawn from Denmark’s marvellous camping life.

The stamps in the ‘Camping Life’ series in the values DKK 6.00 and DKK 8.00 are the result of a competition among students at the Danish Design School. Thirty-five students each submitted two stamp designs. A unanimous jury chose Marie Sølyst’s designs as the winners, because they are simultaneously “retro” and modern, and possess a gentle humour that pleases the viewer.

Children’s World celebrated by Croatia

Croatian Post has released Croatia’s first 2011 stamp – Children’s World. The stamp is dedicated to the International Children’s Festival in Šibenik and bears the motif of a child holding colorful balloons. Hrvoje Šercar, a visual artist from Zagreb, is the author of the drawing which served as the template for the motif, while the stamp itself was designed by Sabina Rešić, a designer from Zagreb. The stamp was issued in an eight-stamp sheet with one pendant featuring the bilingual title of the festival and its logo – a trumpeter.

The XXII edition of the National Youth Philatelic Exhibition by Spain

The XXII edition of the National Youth Philatelic Exhibition (Juvenia 2011) took place this year in the Pósito building in Santa Fe (Granada) from the 12 to 17 April.

Juvenia is held every two years and has become the most important event in youth stamp collecting. The program, as in previous editions, includes besides the exhibition, workshops, seminars and other activities to promote and encourage stamp collecting.

US Postal Service Gives Archie a Stamp

This summer, on July 16th, Archie Comics—publisher of the world’s most famous comic book love triangle—will have their namesake romance between Archie, Betty and Veronica immortalized by the United States Postal Service as a part of a new stamp collection titled “Sunday Funnies.”

The postage stamp features Archie Comics most enduring and iconic image of the fabled romance—eternal teen Archie Andrews sharing a soda with his two favorite girls, brunette heiress Veronica Lodge and blonde girl-next-door Betty Cooper. (read more)
