In celebration of Maestro Lucio San Pedro’s 100th birthday, PHLPost released a commemorative stamp for one of the country’s National Artist for Music.

Born on February 11, 1913, San Pedro was given the National Artist for Music recognition in 1991, recognizing his valuable contribution to original Filipino music, with songs that became classics like “Sa Ugoy ng Duyan” and “Lahing Kayumanggi” among others. Lucio San Pedro produced an outstanding body of work which not only reflects his artistry but more importantly, expresses the beauty and essence of Filipino identity and culture.

The stamp design is a close up photo of Maestro Lucio San Pedro with the title of his song, “Sa Ugoy ng Duyan” and his signature on the background, as per approved by Maestro Lucio San Pedro’s family, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines and the National Commission for Culture and Arts.

With this commemorative stamp, we will always be reminded that 100 years ago, a music genius named Lucio San Pedro was born and  his name will be forever carved in our country’s history just as memories of him are forever etched in the hearts of his family and friends.
