Italian and San Marino post issue a joint issue celebrating the 550th anniversary of the definition of the borders of the Republic of San Marino!!

The four stamps are placed on the right of the sheetlet the reproduction of the topographic map continues outside the perforated square, with the territory annexed to San Marino highlighted over a detail of the papal bull issued by Pope Pius II, with the lead seal.

Top left is the emblem of the Italian Republic. The sheetlet is completed with the words “joint issue Italy – San Marino”, “1463 – 2013 550th Anniversary of the definition of the borders between the Republic of San Marino and Italy” and “27 June 2013 is the 550th anniversary of the ‘Pacts of Fossombrone’ 1463, and, more specifically, of the issue of the papal bull with which His Holiness Pope Pius II ratified the clauses of the preceding agreements between the Community of San Marino and his Cardinal Legate. Thanks to their loyalty, and the help given to the Holy See against the Malatesta Family, the Community of San Marino obtained the four castles of Montegiardino, Fiorentino and Serravalle and subsequently also Faetano. The surface of San Marino thus doubled to its present size”.
Each stamp shows a detail of the vintage topographic map of the Republic of San Marino among the features indicated on the map are the four castles granted by Pope Pius II in 1463 under the terms of the Pacts of Fossombrone. The word “ITALIA” and the denomination “€ 0,70” complete each stamp.
