Australia Post charity stamp to support the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre

Australia Post Managing Director and CEO Ahmed Fahour announced the release of a charity stamp sheetlet to raise funds for the Olivia Newton-John Cancer & Wellness Centre – a new cancer research and treatment centre at the Austin Hospital, Melbourne.
“Australia Post is delighted to support the Olivia Newton-John Cancer & Wellness Centre with the release of this stamp issue,” said Australia Post Managing Director and CEO Ahmed Fahour.
“Australia Post’s charity stamp sheetlet is a great way of enabling Australians to contribute to the fundraising efforts of this important cancer centre,” he said.
This charity domestic rate (60c) stamp is available in a sheetlet of 10 and the purchase of each sheetlet will raise $2 towards the centre. A donation receipt is included in the sheetlet design for taxation purposes.
Australia Post hopes the initiative will generate substantial additional support from around the nation for the Olivia Newton-John Cancer & Wellness Centre and increase awareness of the importance of its work.
This is a centre which integrates three elements – the world-class medical treatment of the Austin Hospital, the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research and Olivia’s dream of delivering the most thorough and individualised cancer treatments and care available.
The centre will provide a holistic patient-centred approach to deliver information and education, and treatments that promote physical, emotional and spiritual care. The complementary treatments will include meditation, guided relaxation, counselling, art and music therapy.
The stamp design, created by Melbourne-based Hoyne Design, uses key aspects of the Olivia Newton-John Cancer & Wellness Centre branding – the large green O symbolises life, holistic care of the mind, body and spirit, and links with Olivia’s name; the green suggests strength and vitality; the leaves suggest life and renewal; the ray of light symbolises hope and a new day; and the use of the hands cradling the O visually represents support, care and nurturing, introducing a human element into the stamp design.
