If you have £5,000,000 or lets say $7,500,000 to spare, why not add the tiny Treskilling Yellow stamp to your album, weighing even less than a gram it is considered great value for money, especially considering the weight / price ratio. It is to be put on auction shortly.

This is a Swedish stamp which exists only because a boy rescued it from his grandmothers dust bin. This stamp dates back to the year 1855 and was used in 1857. This was the only stamp which was painted yellow, obviuosly by mistake. All other stamps were actually green in colour. This difference made it such a special and expensive stamp.

It is now officially the World’s most expensive stamp. The stamp will be auctioned off in Geneva next week.

The stamp has been owned by a number of different colectors during the years and it was sold for 2,875,000 Swiss Francs,in 1966. All previous owners are anonymous although the philatelic world hopes to finally find out who its new owner is in due course when the purchase is made.

“There was hot competition when it was sold last time. People collecting stamps like to have rare things, like to have special things. I think maybe it’’s because it’s been known for so many years, it’s special,” said a Danish auctioneer.
