Stamp shows are the best platform to promote philately and were introduced in the last century as “Salons of Stamps” or “Salon de timbre” as these were more commonly known. These shows have grown to exhibitions with an area of more than 100 000 m2 and with tens of thousands of visitors attending. Initially, all shows were organised and financed by local stamp collector’s clubs but gradually they have developed to World affairs as joint ventures between the host country’s Postal Administration and the National Philatelic Federation.
All International shows have hundreds of sales stands many of which are occupied by World Postal Administrations who showcase their stamps and by prestigious philatelic dealers and auction houses.
Non international philatelic exhibitions are regular events, held annually or at some other frequency and they are important events in the philatelic calendar of each country. Exhibitions are normally of International, National, Regional or Local scope.
However, the most prestigious international exhibitions are those for which Fédération Internationale de Philatélie (FIP) patronage is granted.
Below we have listed all the forthcoming international (FIP recognized) shows. These shows may be held at most once every ten years in any one country and typically last a week or longer. Please make sue to visit this page regularly as some shows may change date or venue.
