Children’s World celebrated by Croatia
Croatian Post has released Croatia’s first 2011 stamp – Children’s World. The stamp is dedicated to the International Children’s Festival in Šibenik and bears the motif of a child holding colorful balloons. Hrvoje Šercar, a visual artist from Zagreb, is the author of the drawing which served as the template for the motif, while the stamp itself was designed by Sabina Rešić, a designer from Zagreb. The stamp was issued in an eight-stamp sheet with one pendant featuring the bilingual title of the festival and its logo – a trumpeter.
This stamp is the first stamp in Croatian Post’s new series titled “Children’s World”. Following the idea of the new series, this year’s stamp is dedicated to one of Croatia’s most important festivals – the International Children’s Festival in Šibenik, held this year for the 51st time. Since it’s founding in 1958, the festival has attracted thousands of visitors and performers from many countries of the world each summer. The goal of the festival is to showcase and promote children’s art and creativity.
