Marianne is a symbol of the Republic of France. A Marianne is a bust of a proud and determined woman wearing what is known as a Phrygian Cup. She symbolises the attachment of the common citizens of the revolution to the Republic – Marianne is liberty, egality and fraternity.

Marianne has been used on most definitive stamps issued since 1944, as well as several commemorative issues. When Marianne is not clearly wearing a Phrygian cap, as is the case on some Marianne stamps, she is known as ‘the Republic’

NEW United Nations Definitive stamps

On 4 June 2010, the United Nations Postal Administration issued two New York definitive stamps in the denominations of 3 cents and 4 cents.

The Designs
The US$ 0.03 stamps are designs of portraits of people from around the world. The US$ 0.04 stamps depict people of all cultures as skyscrapers representing the skyline of New York City.

Tigranes the Great (140 – 55 BCE) also called Tigranes II and sometimes Tigranes I was emperor of Armenia  under whom the country became, for a short time, the strongest state east of the Roman Republic. He was a member of the Artaxiad Royal House. Under his reign, the Armenian kingdom expanded beyond its traditional boundaries, temporarily becoming an empire and involved itself in many battles against opponents such as the Parthian and Seleucid empires and the Roman Republic.

Armenia became one of the most powerful and developed countries in the region during the days of Tigran the Great glorified by the title “King of kings”.
