Australia Posts’ new stamp issue features Indigenous Australians who brought change to the country!

This stamp issue features Indigenous Australians whose efforts brought about change, gender equality and recognition.
Neville Bonner AO (1922-99) became the first Aboriginal person to sit in the Australian Commonwealth parliament.
Eddie “Koiki” Mabo (1936-92) challenged the Australian government and won over the rightful ownership of the land he grew up on.
Oodgeroo Noonuccal (1920-93), also known as Kath Walker, was a poet and advocated for citizenship rights for Indigenous people.
Charles Perkins AO (1936-2000), Aboriginal leader and spokesperson, was also Secretary of the Department of Aboriginal Affairs.
Shirley Smith AM (Mum Shirl) (1921-98) was born Colleen Shirley Perry and was well known in Sydney for her assistance to Indigenous families and prisoners.
