Living Australian – Stamp Issue

VN:F [1.9.1_1087]
Rating: 4.3/5

This is the second Living Australian stamp issue celebrating the way Australians seem themselves through the eyes of everyday people.

Australians from across the country submitted entries showing how Aussies live every day through the creative medium of photography.

The categories for this year are Humour, Lifestyle, Local and Global.

The winning entries represent a range of Australian experiences from the vast brown land. Their strong beach culture is portrayed in the comical photograph of a brazen seagull with a stolen chip in its beak as well as the atmospheric image of two small children silhouetted on an empty beach at dusk. Two other photographs represent the rural experience: the tiny old-fashioned service station like those found in countless country towns across the nation and an eccentric array of letter boxes servicing farming properties.Australia is the world’s largest producer of wool and the final stamp, showing Merino sheep, encapsulates the old saying that “Australia rides on the sheep’s back”.
