Relaxing on the Isle of Man
VN:F [1.9.1_1087]
The Isle of Man Post Office is delighted to present this set of stamps celebrating the diverse lifestyles and cultural heritage of our unique Island. The images selected are ‘slice of life’ photographs of real people who live and work on the Island
Subjects range from relaxing hobbies like sea fishing to extremely adventurous activities such as rock climbing.
The sheer beauty of our natural landscape is captured in the image of children on horseback while our history and heritage is typified by that of the traditional plough and horses at work in Cregneash.
No collection would be complete without a motorbike and rider enjoying the Island’s roads and lanes.
What all the subjects have in common is a love of the great outdoors and a sense of freedom that living on the Isle of Man inspires.
In these stamps we have endeavoured (read more)

Alderney Dragonflies
VN:F [1.9.1_1087]
Anyone visiting Alderney and hoping to see some dragonflies would do well to head for Mannez, in the east of the island, although true enthusiasts will want to contact kindred spirits at the Alderney Wildlife Trust (www.alderneywildlife.org).
The species featured on the stamps are as follows:
Common Darter Sympetrum striolatum (36p): a resident species which most of us in the British Isles have probably seen, had we but known it.
The Emperor Dragonfly Anax imperator (45p): with its vivid blue body, one of the largest of British species, and a powerful, vigorous hunter.
The Blue-tailed Damselfly Ischnura elegans (56p): another colourful character which, perfectly at home in Alderney, can also be found as far away as the Middle East, Russia and even China. (read more)

The magic of Mali
VN:F [1.9.1_1087]
Welcome to the world little Mali, Melbourne Zoo’s newest addition to the elephant herd born 16 January 2010.
Initially called ‘Baby’ by her devoted keepers, the calf was named via an online public competition, with the overwhelming favourite being the Thai word for jasmine: ‘Mali’.
The Magic of Mali Souvenir Stamp Sheet celebrates another successful birth due to the mammoth efforts of the Australasian Conservation Breeding Program. Part of the proceeds of this stamp sheet go to the Melbourne Zoo to help in the conservation of the endangered Asian Elephant.
The breeding program is already off to a great start with Mali born in Melbourne, two male calves at Sydney’s Taronga Zoo and another pregnant elephant at each zoo. Personalised sheets as these ones are being issued during the breeding program
