Success rolls on for Personalised Stamps

Personalised Stamps The issue on 16 April is the sixth so far and Norway Post has announced that there will be more! Personalised stamps are a success all over the world. Initially (late 1990s) they were not proper stamps, just perforated labels to affix beside the stamp. As time went by, a number of postal administrations decided to go all out and upgraded the label to a stamp with a value and a country name. (read more)

JOBURG 2010 World Stamp Expo

South Africa will be holding their third International stamp exhibition from the 27th to 31st October 2010. It will be held in the Sandton International Convention Centre, which is located in the heart of a mega shopping mall in Johannesburg.

New Defintive stamps in Spain

This year’s definitive series is made up of four stamps depicting the portrait of King Juan Carlos I.
He is King of the Spanish people as he himself proclaimed on the 22nd November 1975. Belarus World Expo Stamp

On May 1, 2010 the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus will issue a stamp “World Expo 2010 Shanghai China”. The World Exhibition “Expo 2010” will be held in the city of Shanghai, China from May 1 to October 31, 2010. The mail aim of participation of the Republic of Belarus in the exhibition is to strength the image of the county in the world arena. The national exposition of Belarus will be disposed in a separate hall of 1000 sq. m. October 11, 2010 is agreed with the coordination office “Expo 2010” as the Day of Belarus.

Made in Italy – dedicated to Alfa Romeo

King George V; the King collector

A set of four wonderfully illustrated stamps have been issued by Gibraltar Post to commemorate the Centenary of the Accesion to the throne of King George V, the british monarch who adored stamps and started the Royal Philatelic Collection.

Stanley Gibbons increase its philatelic profits

Stamp collecting and related services provider Stanley Gibbons Group plc Friday posted an increase in pre-tax profit for the full year ended December 2009, reflecting a 20% sales growth contributed mainly by its philatelic trading and retail operations. Further, the company proposed a final dividend, which leads to a 5% increase in total dividend. The company’s shares gained more than 6% in morning trade.
For the full year, pre-tax profit rose 11% to GBP 4.11 million from GBP 3.70 million last year. (read more)

Sunset and Sunrise in Guernsey

The ‘abstract’ theme continues with six more magical yet realistic shots from Alex Wallace and Nick Despres of Perfect Prints (www.perfectprints.co.uk), and this time they illustrate the first issue of the ‘pricing in proportion’ system, whereby postage is determined by an item’s dimensions.
There is a sunrise on Guernsey’s west coast, with a headland in the distance crowned by a German Occupation concrete tower which, unusually for such a fortification, can have an attractive, almost arty appearance from certain angles and in a certain light.
