Pope presented with Joint Stamp Issue

On November 3rd 2010 a delegation from the Israel Postal Company and the Vatican Philatelic Service had a personal meeting with the Pope and presented him with the Joint Israel-Vatican issue. The stamps were officially issued on November 15th 2010.

This is the first time the Vatican Philatelic Service has presented one of their joint issues personally to the Pope.

The Israel Philatelic Service of the Israel Postal Company have produced a Special Collection Set including book, audio CD and stamp sheet to mark 200 years since the Passing of Rabbi Nachman of Breslev. 

The 26th September 2010 marks 200 years since the Passing of Rabbi Nachman of Breslev. 

The Israel Philatelic Service of the Israel Postal Company have issued a commemorative stamp to mark 200 years since the Passing of Rabbi Nachman of Breslev, who’s personality and teachings penetrated the hearts of thousands of Jewish people. 

The Rabbi’s doctrines, based on faith, happiness and brotherly love and his special way of searching for the joy of life and finding the good in everyman, have influenced both the religious and secular alike and are a source of inspiration of writers, poets, intellectuals and artists. 

The commemorative stamps have been produced in a beautiful collection set which includes a book and audio CD making for a unique gift for the festivals and any occasion.

Stamps for the 150 Years Outside Jerusalem’s Old City Walls

Until the 1850’s, nearly all Jerusalem residents lived within the Old City walls. It was considered dangerous to stay outside the walls at night because marauding thieves prowled around the city and residents preferred feeling safe inside the walls, despite the crowding and poor sanitary conditions.

In the mid 1850’s a number of initiatives began to take shape, proposing that residents leave the Old City and build in the vacant areas surrounding its walls. One of these initiatives was led by Sir Moshe Montefiore, the Jewish British philanthropist.

Israel Post has issued a single stamp to commemorate the 2010 Saliling World Chamionships that is taking place this summer in Haifa. The stamps have been illustrated by Mali & Momi Alon and were issued on the 14th June 2010.

Holocaust survivor on Austrian-Israel stamps

A joint issue between Israel – Vatican in 2011?

According to several news sources, after Pope Benedict XVI had been presented with an official set of postage stamps, issued by the Philatelic Service of the Israel Postal Company, to commemorate his  historic pilgrimage to the Holy Land during May 2009, the possibility of a joint issue between both Israel and Vatican was discussed. .

The Holy Father  received a framed copy  personalised stamps and special commemorative souvenir booklets dedicated to his visit.

His Excellency the pope then met at a later date ith the Israeli delegation at the end of his weekly General Audience, in St  Peter’s Square in which the idea was mentioned. The project is still under discussion and could happen during 2011.
