New Year 2012: “Year of the Dragon”- Stamp issue

The Philippine Postal Corporation recently came up with the New Year 2012: “Year Of The Dragon” stamps, which was issued last December 5, 2011. It is classified as a “Special” kind of issue with denominations of P 7.00 and P 30.00 and quantity of 35,000 pieces each. Also to be issued are souvenir sheets with a denomination of P 74.00 and quantity of 5,000 pieces. The design for the Se-tenant Pair shows the Philpost Chinese characters series depicting the Year of the Dragon.

Birds of prey stamps soar through the mail

The U.S. Postal Service salutes five kings of the sky with the Birds of Prey stamps: the northern goshawk, peregrine falcon, golden eagle, osprey and northern harrier. The 85-cent definitive Birds of Prey stamps are being issued in self-adhesive sheets of 20 at a price of $17.00 per sheet. The stamps can be used with virtually all domestic First-Class Mail weighing up to 3-ounces. (read more)

A new stamp series has been planned to show the unique beauty of Icelandic nature. The Landmannalaugar area is a popular tourist destination east of the volcano Hekla. Year of the Dragon- Stamp issue

Commemorating the Lunar New Year, the United States Postal Service today issued a new Forever Stamp featuring a dragon, the fifth of 12 animals associated with the Chinese lunar calendar.
This colorful stamp is the latest collectible in the Postal Service’s Celebrating Lunar New Year series, which began in 2008 with the Year of the Rat. National Olympic & Sports – 100th Anniversary (Stamp Issue)

The National Olympic and Sports Association of Iceland (ÍSÍ) was founded on January 28th 1912 under the name of The National Sports Association of Iceland. ÍSÍ is the largest mass movement in Iceland and the only overall association of the Icelandic sports movement. One of ÍSÍ‘s main tasks is to strengthen, coordinate and organize sports activities in Iceland while also promoting the development of all kinds of sports, both public and elite. Icelandic craftmanship III Stamp Set

Silverwork has a long tradition in Iceland. Numerous object have been preserved, many of which are of exceptional quality. Koffur is a diadem of gilded silver belonging to a headdress of the national costume designed by the painter Sigurðar Guðmundsson in the latter half of the 19th century. This diadem has a buttercup pattern. A few diadems of this type are preserved in the National Museum of Iceland. The chalice is made of silver with gothic shape.

This international rate stamp celebrates Montana’s Glacier National Park. Often described as one of the most stunning national parks in the U.S., Glacier was established on May 11, 1910.
The stamp image shows Logan Pass, the highest point on the park’s spectacular Going-to-the-Sun Road. Peaks of the Northern Rocky Mountains fill the photo’s background. In the foreground, melting snowbanks reveal a lush meadow dusted with wildflowers.
