Canada Post unveiled today the images of the five stamps that will be issued on April 5 to mark the centennial of the sinking of RMS Titanic. The collection, created by Haligonian design team of Dennis Page and Oliver Hill, showcases the best-known ship in the world with depth and realism and adds some poignant Canadian attributes.

Shoes and stockings are designed by Hugrún Dögg Árnadóttir and Magni Thorsteinsson. Their company is KronKron. Their shoe lines have been noted for innovative design. According to reviewers their design is characterized by joy and romance with creative use of colors.

David Eynon first came to the Falkland Islands in 1970 as a travelling teacher. He returned to England to take a degree and in 1974 married Carol Watson, who he had met in the Falklands. He worked in the North Sea from 1974 to 1981 diving commercially with Comex Diving out of Aberdeen.

The postage stamp dedicated to the year of Maironis will be issued in edition of 100 000 copies with nominal value of LTL 3.35. The tête-bêchepostage stamps are printed in sheets of 10 stamps. The stamp depicts the portrait of Maironis in the background of the collection of poems Pavasario balsai or The Voices of Spring. The new postage stamp was created by the artist Valdonė Bručienė.

7th January 2012 is the 125th birth anniversary of the author Oskar Luts. A good skill of listening acquired from his grandfather as well as his excellent memory helped him when going to the parish school at Palamuse and later as a writer.

Each postage stamp from the continuous set Famous People has been issued in edition of 100 000 copies. The nominal value of the postage stamp depicting Mikalojus Radvila Rudasis is LTL 1.55. The one depicting Domicelė Tarabildienė has the nominal value of LTL 2, and LTL 2.90 is given to the postage stamp featuring Stasys Šimkus.

A population and housing census began on December 31 in Estonia for the 11th time and will last until March 31, 2012. During the three months all the present residents of Estonia and their housing will be counted. The census is the only survey that provides comprehensive statistics on how many residents there are in Estonia, and in what areas and in what conditions they live.
