New Philippine Stamps
The Philippine Postal Corp. (PhilPost) launched a set of limited edition Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III stamps yesterday Monday, July 26, to mark the President’s first State of the Nation Address (SONA).
The stamps, which feature 2 photographs by Jay Narvaez Morales, aim to relive Aquino’s historic inauguration as the country’s 15th President on June 30 at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila.
PhilPost will be releasing 350,000 stamps worth P7 each and 100,000 copies valued at P40 apiece. Both stamps, which were designed by Jesus Alfredo Delos Santos, will be available until July 25, 2011, or while supplies last.
Aquino will be direct and specific in his first SONA, and will not be using any gimmick or human props unlike some past chief executives, Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said earlier.
It can be recalled that former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo presented the “Bangkang Papel” boys in her 2001 SONA, which many said, drew attention away from the real state of the nation.
Sectoral groups, meanwhile, expect Aquino’s SONA to be all-inclusive
